About this database

This database presents correct identification rates of tactile symbols and letters. The rates were obtained in experiments in which 33 young adults aged 18–42 years (mean, 23 years) and 33 older adults aged 60–73 years (mean, 67 years) with normal vision for their age and 73 visually impaired persons aged 23–76 years participated. They were asked to identify tactile symbols and letters by touching with their index finger, without looking at them.

Details of the measurement method are described in Reference [1].
